Hello all,

not exactly a blue screen error but I've noticed some progressively worse quirky behavior by Windows. I tried running a sfc /scannow and it says there is corruption but can't fix it.

I was hoping to get some help from the great support here on the sevenforums.

I've attached the logs from tonight's SFC scan. Prior to scans today, I had run the scan before and it came back with no problems, possibly a few days ago but nothing in particular has happened since then.

Is there anything else people need to help diagnose this?

It's Windows x64 Pro
Intel Core 2 Quad QX9650
8 GB Corsair DDR2-800 speed
ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo

This is a recent install of Windows 7, I already wiped and reinstalled once because this happened. I'd like to find out what's causing it. I'm running a hard drive scan using HDTune Pro right now and also running an sfc /verifyonly so it will log exactly what the issues are.

I'm hoping someone can review and provide some ideas without reinstalling as I've done that already about a week ago.

Well, HDTune reports no bad sectors on my drives.

I finished the sfc /verifyonly so it logs everything and doesn't just stop when it has something it can't fix.

Is it possible someone could help review this log to help identify the problem?

Hello all...

I actually fixed this problem. The scan was failing due to 3 missing directories. I found out these directories were removed by a tool I've used from nVIDIA Geforce 480 470 285 260 9800 275 295 GT GTX AMD ATI Radeon HD 5870 5850 5770 4890 X2 - Guru of 3D: PC Hardware Reviews called the Driver sweeper. It's normally very good for preparing your computer for updated video/sound drivers to remove all traces of the old one.

This time, it went too far, it removed the 3 directories below and installing the new driver apparently doesn't bring them back.
C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_atiilhag.inf.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_en-us_a84b3670179ab5eb\

C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_atiriol6.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_a909ad21d26d5bd0\

These are related to my ATI 5970 graphics card.

What I did was break out an old hard drive, install Windows 7 on it and copy over the directories as it looks like they're the same, name and all.

After putting those 3 directories back, the scan completes and finds no issues.

Might have taken some time but overall less of a headache than reinstalling or trying to repair windows.
