shift and delete accident

ive just managed to delete the whole of my lossles music collection by using shift and delete on the folder (wasnt concentrating)

can i get it back? thanks

I lost all my Lost folder, but thanks to this feature I restored them...

First, you make sure where the folder you deleted was(for example it was in My Documents)

Then you right click on My Documents, then "Restore previous versions", a window will open and it should list all available options.

As you can see, Earlier this Week should be enough if you deleted it today.
You choose when and double click the folder(or "open") - it will let you restore individual files.

thanks Senteaf but thats not working, the folder was on a different drive to the OS so not showing any previous versions.

trying a deep scan with recuva but not too hopeful the normal scan only came up with a few songs and they weren't in any folders

I know it doesn't help your current problem, but, for the future you could consider activating System Protection for files only on that disk.

Certainly, the more you use this disk, the greater the chance the old data, whose space is now marked as free, will be overwritten with new files, including temporary files. So it will not be deleted, but will become unreadable.

The problem with "shift delete" is its purpose is to permanently delete - it does not send the file (or folder) to the recycle bin.

I agree with seavixen and recuva is a good option to try, but as noted, if the disk has been used, chances are greatly reduced. Depending on the value you place on these files, a professional recovery service may be your only option. But note these can be very expensive - costing $thousands.

I assume, you did not have a backup. I recommend EVERYONE, right NOW, backup any data they don't want to lose - ALL hard drives WILL fail, sooner or later.
