shortcut (lnk file) "Open File Location" not working

I have numerous picture sets in separate folders, and one folder that contains the shortcut to each folder's "cover.jpg" file.

When I right click on one of the shortcut files and select "Open File Location" or select "Properties" and then click the "Open File Location" button, I'm taken to a "search result" window of the last search I did, rather then the shortcut's folder.

Any suggestions on a fix?

It seems that the shortcut must have been broken. In the properties check for the location of it's target if it's set correctly.

The shortcuts themselves do open the "cover.jpg" in my graphics viewing program when i double-click them.

Some of them do actually open up the file location to the correct folder, while most of them direct me to the "search result" window and the results of the last search. I'm not sure why some work while others do not.

I just experienced the same problem. I realized that I'd unchecked "launch folder windows in a separate process" in Folder Options->View->Advanced Settings, and, for whatever reason, this had broken it. I re-checked that option, and it fixed the problem for me.
