Solved Should I alter Windows 7 firewall settings?

For years I have been using windows firewall and I never thought to even change it's settings. Should I just leave it the way it shipped from MS?

Are you behind a router? If so pretty much all consumer routers have a built in firewall that blocks pretty much everything you have not initiated. So the firewall on your computer hardly does any work. So yes the default settings are perfectly fine.

do you have security with its own firewall ? if so you have no need for windows firewall. (it will cause conflicks if run with other firewalls)

Yes I do have a router and it has an active firewall and some other features. I will disable my windows firewall. Thanks for the help

I keep the NAT filtering on and the router firewall on. I also enabled port scan and DoS protection
