Solved Size of page file

Hi all. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit edition on my PC with 8 Gbs of RAM and I noticed the size of the page file is also 8 Gbs. My question is, with 8 Gbs of RAM do I need a page file that large? And if not, would it matter if I reduced it to say 4 Gbs, or even 2 Gbs? Thanks for any help!

2GB or even 1GB is fine. I am running all my systems on that because they all have small SSDs where space is at a premium. And you can also delete the hiberfile (if you do not use hibernation). The command is powercfg -h off. That saves you another 8GBs.

Wolfgang what are the amounts you use for initial and maximum size. Im running 3gig ram so its system set at 4501MB but am only using a 50gig ssd and could do to save some space.

You can set it to 1GB - Minimum and Maximum.

Thank you for your reply! I am also running Windows 7 on an SSD and have a better use for the disk space than a page file, especially since you confirm my suspicion that it isn't necssary. I do have the hiberfile turned off already to save even more space.
