Slow boot on the tester

I have an idea I have asked before but cannot find the query but the machine is getting slower.
I have an old prebuilt that I picked up for nothing that I run as a tester for various things.
It has an Intel quad core Q9650 @3.0GHz 4GB G-Skill DDR2 RAM @ 800MHz an Intel D43NB (LGA 775) board (chipset G45/43) Rev 3 running 7 64bit from a Crucial M4 120GB SSD.

Now this machine has always been a bit slow from power on to Windows actually starting up (flag forming) then it goes quickly to login.
The BIOS is set to boot from the SSD.
Now I have tried all the tweaks in the optimise tut including that one that shortens the Menu show delay time.
I have also kept the start up items to a minimum and stopped service that I don't or very rarely use.
I ran a memtest last night with no problems showing up and have kept it clean with CC regularly.
Have done regular scans with Kaspersky (security app) and MBAM.
Now this afternoon it is running slower than ever and doesn't even show the flag forming - it jumps to the login screen.
After power on it shows the Intel screen with a box that has numbers and letters that change during this process plus some very loud beeps at various times.
Other than this the machine runs perfectly well and flips from app tp app in no time at all which is strange given the boot up time - 35 secs to the Windows sound and then 45 secs to login.
Am just wondering if there are any other tests I can run on this machine to find out why the long Intel delay is this a BIOS thing or the SSD being slow?

It could just be that the motherboard isn't supporting the SSD properly.
If that system was bought when all those other parts were brand new and super expensive it may support sata 2, there's no way in hell it supports 3 though. Didn't exist.
One thing you can do and it's something I did when I got my SSD, is to remove the window logo thing from the boot process.
Just go to msconfig and tick the no gui boot.
It doesn't make a huge difference but it sped up my boot a little.

Hiyya magusceeed thanks my friend you are probably on the money as the machine was made about five years ago - I think and maybe even had some slow HDD in it too. Yep it would have cost a fortune then and I know the farmer who had it and money would not have been really that important in getting the machines.

They gave me two one I know was running XP as the sticker was still on this machine had no sticker but perhaps running the same. The only difference between the two was this one had DDR2 the other DDR1 and a dual core.

I don't know what the HDD was as it belonged to a farm business and they kept it to transfer their business records over or were just being careful as to who saw what was on them. I'll go try out the no GUI and get back. I was just concerned that the board was dying or something.

The boot speed then isn't so much of an issue given what you say as up and running it flies!

yeah my back up machine is about the same tech only it has a newer mobo on it that accepts ddr3.
It's also quite slow to boot compared to this machine but once up and running it's not too shabby.

Yep you were right on mate the specs for the board were SATA 3GBs and well the slow boot is a small price to pay for a freebie that runs fast once up and running.
