slow response for other window when working with word

Hi all,
When i open and work with Microsoft office 2007 files i have problem of very slow response in opening new window like opening new folder. The word itself response quite good. I have RAM of 16 GB and processor is Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1230 V2 @3.30Ghz.
Let me know any kind of solution for this problem of slow response for new window opening and draging etc.

Even with 16gb of ram; it sounds to me like something is causing the ram to perform slowly. I would go into the task manager and see what if any programs are taking up and using a lot of the ram; and close out the programs you know you dont need and hopefully that should solve the issue. if it does not post back and we can take it from there.

As well as what matts6887 has suggested, you could try running Disc Defragmenter to fix a a very defragmented Hard Drive. However, do not use defragmenter if you are using a SSD.

If your hard Drive is close to full it will slow down your computer.

i was also considering task manager and defragmenter. when i open my problem file i have my Memory uses up to 4 gb. The problem still same as slowing down the window performance.
Then i simply copy all the my original text to new word file and save it then it seems not slow at all. But i still wonder if time goes by the problem may still exists as old word file.
Just for information the file size was not more than 10 MB with text and figs as it is research manuscript.
Even it shortly solve my problem by copying text to new file i still want to know some tips why my window performance is very slow when i work with my original old word file.
