Everything was fine since I installed W7, nearly a year ago.

Today everything went screwy: my mouse and keyboard stopped working (HP Wireless Eite keyboard and mouse combo).

I was able to change around the usb connections and reset the driver and now it is working, BUT, the USB stick for the mouse and keyboard will only work from certain usb ports, which are part of a setup I created to accommodate my many devices for my HP notebook.

I just reboot and the sequence for boot took a long time, yet I must admit all devices seem now to be working.

It just takes forever for all the usb devices to connect, or rather reconnect.

Wish I could explain the issue, I wasted an afternoon, to find that the it may be the RF USB device for the HP Elite is gong bad.

Actually that problem above has been resolved. What I discovered is that a USB hub went kapooey!. I replaced the hub and my system is working well, indeed. Starts up correctly every time since I installed the new hub. Interestingly, the hub was not connected to the devices in question, but electronically it probably was connected and the drivers must have gotten mixed signals. Nonetheless, I had thoughts that the hub was bad but for some reason was not open to changing it as it worked from time to time. But since I changed it and threw out the defective hub into the garbage, all the USB devices have been working perfectly.
