SSD on this laptop?

I've got enough money now for an SSD, in specific this one.
I can't afford right now a whole new rig to go with it, and I heard about people fitting their laptops with SSD's.
The only thing stopping buying the SSD and putting it in my laptop is my old HDD connector (sorry if wrong term is being used) which is an ATA. The link to the SSD given has an SATA II connection. What would I have to do to make this SSD work with my lappy? (System in specs)

If your laptop is using ATA it will not work with a SATA II SSD.
Even if you found a way to modify I don't think your laptop will handle it.
Why do you want to invest so much money in a SSD for your laptop?
You laptop has 160GB 5400RPM hard drive (Western Digital WD1600BEVT)
I would consider a larger 7200 RPM HD instead.

I know this is not the answer you are looking for but I try to help others make a better educated decisions .

well, you probably would never be able to mount the drive as you would require a bridge (similar to this: SATA Bridge Boards), but one that would have the pata pin setup for 2.5" drives. space would be its own worst enemy by trying to mount all of that stuff in the limited confines of a laptop chassis.

you'd run into the same problem--bridging from pata (your laptop) to sata (the ssd). if you found a bridge that was small enough to fit into the laptop along with the ssd, then you (probably) have no problems.

Why don't you just save the money and aim for getting enough money for a rig instead of buying the first thing you see that you have enough money for?
