SSD partition...behavior!

One more thing that I've already asked for in another post but for some reason it was deleted! Please see this pict of my disc 0 at disc management.I think that the 14 something GB partition at left is for restore to factory state! If this is correct, I do not need it anymore since I made 2 copys of it (2x 5 DVDs) via Toshiba Recovery Media creator plus one extra copy in a 16 GB USB flash! And I know the discs are working because I restore my laptop to the factory state with a set of them!So please, could I remove that "partition" at the right of C ?

You could remove that partition since you know the replacements you made actually work.

But I personally probably would not unless I was in a jam for space. There is nothing as reliable as that partition for restore purposes.

Thanks again!
I keep my original data in separate external hdds!
The only thing that is different is the way the data is in my computer and the way it is in the hdds! I mean the folders names and location may be different but the files (data) are the same!

In that case I would leave the SSD as it is with the 3 partitions.

No data on the SSD. All data on an external and backed up to some other external.

Make an image of C and the small partition on the left. Store the images with your other data.

But I know that they work! I restore it when I still had the HDD installed and restore it when I install the new ssd in the laptop! In both, they worked without any flaw/issue!

I will use the replaced Seagate Momentus 7200.4 (now in a esata-USB3.0 enclosure) just for the backup of the images!

I got similiar concern.

I just ordered a ssd for my laptop, now I will be partitioning it so if I ever do OS reinstalls, the data partition stays intact.

However got a concern on whether this strangles write wear leveling, making the first partition not able to use all cells, and vice versa for 2nd partition.

on pc is no big deal as it also has hdd's, my laptop doesnt, I dont fancy using the old hdd attached via usb all the time.

I don't think so chrys most of the good brands have plenty of wear built into them and besides if you align it up as in the tutorial. That first partition is only 100MB mate and a bit of a dent thats all.

I have all my machines now (5) and one on the way with SSD's and I can honestly say even if they were throttled back a bit the speed difference makes up for stuff like that.

I think you only have to think of the speed of what your HDD's used to run at and there is no comparison an like someone else said I back up to an external via 3.0 USB so I don't have a problem with any of it now.

I meant a windows partition and a data partition (on top of the default 100meg partition).

I wont be imaging the current OS like I did on my desktop, windows will be reinstalled from a SP1 disk. But I want a seperate partition for data so it doesnt get wiped if I ever reinstall windows again.
