Hi, I recently got a new laptop and I decided installing my starcraft games on it.
Installation seemed to go properly and I experienced problems while launching the games.
In both games, after the launch, you are supposed to see the blizzard logo followed by some animation, well in my case, instead of these appearing, it is a bunch of turquoise pixels with a bad quality sound that appear, and after 5 seconds I get an error and have to force the game to close. I can't even skip the animation, skipping makes the error appear even sooner.

The games worked fine on vista and XP, so my guess is that it has to do with windows 7 and the way it is configured, so what should I do to make the games work ?

Here are info on my computer:

Manufacturer: Toshiba
Model: Notebook
Evaluation: 4,6
Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) i3 CPU M 380 @ 2.53 GHz 2.53 GHz
RAM: 4Gb
Type: 64 bit

Graphics card: Intel (R) HD graphics

I thank you for the help

Have you had a look at Tips on Troubleshooting Game Issues. Firstly i would suggest that you run the game in compatability mode, a guide to it can be found here How to Run a Program in Compatibility Mode in Windows 7.

I know of a few fixes for problems similar to yours, you could try the following:

All you need to do is:

Open text edit and paste the following commands in it.

taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
C:\"Games\StarCraft"\"StarCraft.exe"
start explorer.exe

Save the file as starcraft.bat

And link a shortcut to that .bat

Now, when you want to run the game open the Personalise menu, leave the window open and finally, run your game from the shortcut you made earlier.

StarCraft fix holy cow!

Thank you for your anwers.

I tried the patch by mudlord but it didn't do any good, even though the patcher affirmed that the patch was successful. I also tried running in compatibility mode using the method where you just check the properties box and select windows 7 (which didn't even appear on mine) and the registry method, by entering the path to the application(and the compatibility to use) which again didn't work but did freeze the game a little longer.

Clinkz I wanna try the text edit method but what is text edit ? Did you mean Notepad or something like that ?
I pasted the text on notepad and all it did was shut down the open window I had of the personnalize menu that is supposed to be left open. I think I should change the commands to the actual location of the application (for the C:\... part, I don't even have a folder called games) do you think that could work out ? And also would it usually work if you run it directly without making a shortcut ?

C:\"Games\StarCraft"\"StarCraft.exe" was an example only, sorry i should have mentioned that. In the batch file point to your starcraft.exe's directory.

Text Edit, Notepad..same thing really.

And the script is meant to close explorer, open starcraft, then open explorer again.
