Hello there,

Well, I had just built this new computer (specs are in my account info), and it had been working fine for a while. It had 7 up and running fine. One day I put it in hibernate, and come back about a day or so later. Resuming takes about an hour. I get a little impatient and restart the box. I try to startup windows normally, not resume. Now it will blatantly not start.

I have tried to boot plain start, hangs at the Starting Windows... screen with no logo

I have tried to boot safe mode, hangs at the loading of Classpnp.sys.

I have tried to boot from a windows 7 disc ( not hd ), hangs after Setup is loading files...

I have tried to safe boot from a windows 7 disc, hangs on disk.sys.

same thing for a windows vista disc.

I am absolutely flabbergasted as to what the problem is.

Any ideas are appreciated, Thanks

I looked in forum rules and saw nothing about bumping, and I still have no clue as to what's going on so:

Do a memory test for at least 3 passes from a bootable cd: http://www.memtest.org/

Do a harddrive test from manufacturer of disk from bootable cd.

If it passes all tests:
Make sure the bios is the most current available
Reinstall Windows and start over since it is a new build.

I'll definitely try the first three, but I was hoping to avoid reinstall because I had spent multiple hours installing and configuring everything just so from a plain install, but I guess if it comes down to it...

Anyway, thanks for the advice

Hibernation is a power management option. Power management is controlled by the bios. If you are using Windows 7 and not the most current bios there could be a problem. They say not to update the bios unless you are having problems because of the slight risk of a bad flash.
