startup repair problem

System has taken on a startup repair,has come up with failed error code 0x1f and fails in integrity check error code 0x490. Computer wouldn't turn on hence the startup repair. Anyone any ideas? Thanks Claire.

You need to fill in your system specs.

I'm assuming you can't boot?

And, do you have a friend with a working pc who can help you download and burn to cd some diagnostic and/or troubleshooting stuff?

I'm leaning toward a hd problem and would like you to run the hd manufacturer's test.
Whether laptop or desktop, are you comfortable accessing the hd to learn the make?
