I am pretty sure that a virus cause this, right before my computer shut down on it's own my anti virus popped up and said that a Trojan was found but I didn't have to do anything. Then the computer shut down and when it restartrd started to load files and then go into startup repair, only it couldn't fix it. I tried a restore, but again it said that the startup files wern't there. I just quickly scanned the diagnostic details and noticed something that said "boot critical file C:\CI.dll is corrupt".

I am so worried I won't be able to fix this and will lose everything! Any help is so greatly appreciated!!

Reinstall Windows. It's faster and easier. I never do a system repair. Usually installing windows , drivers and most of the useful programs takes about 2 hours and finally You have a new system. Virus scan and system repair takes much longer, and it's not so successful .

Will I lose all my info? I have quite a few documents I need and a bunch of pictures and videos I don't have backup for.

Your best bet would be to take the disk out of your computer and connect it to a friend's machine. Copy all the files from it, which you need to keep, onto a USB stick (or whatever).

You could then put the drive back into your computer and do a clean install. Update everything, then copy your files back. Keep a copy of all your personal files somewhere safe so that, if this happens again, you won't risk losing data.

How you connect your disk to your friend's machine will depend on what sort of machine they have.

Not as fast as it should be......
We have seen a few of these recently.

You can try a bootable antivirus disc - some also have a file transfer wizard - so you can copy your data off.

You could try Dr.Web CureIt! —

Download and burn to bootable disk Trinity Rescue disk, boot into it from the one time start menu. It may help identify the virus and enable you to recover some of your files. If you manage to recover your files, scan them very good to make sure the virus has not affected them. The only way to ensure you get rid of the virus is to run diskpart from the installation DVD (at first screen press Shift+F10) Type diskpart, be sure to select the correct disk, Type select disk # it will tell you that the disk # you typed is the selected disk. Type 'clean all'. This will take quite a bit of time to complete. It is writing zeros to every section of your disk. It will take several hours to complete, but is the only way to get completely rid of a virus. If you just reformat and reinstall, the Trojan will still be there on your new install. Once clean all is completed then reinstall windows. Next, buy an external hard drive to backup your user files. They are for situations just like this. This is the only way to completely get rid of the virus that I am aware of.
