For some reason when I have windows media player open and the computer tries to go into sleep mode, the screen will go off but the pc itself stays running like it's on. When I press a key to bring the screen back up it doesn't work and I have to hold down the power button to shutdown the computer. It goes to sleep normally when WMP is closed.

Two things that have been problems since Microsoft invented them is SLEEP and HIBERNATE.

Over the years I've read hundreds of complaints, over the internet, about PC's that either went to sleep or went into hibernate and never came out again.

So one of the first things I do, when I set up a new install of Windows, is totally disable Hibernate, and disable sleep. Sleep = NEVER!

Just do that and you'll have no more problems with Sleep. It's a very simple fix.

OH, and when you're done with your PC, like any other appliance, turn it OFF!;)

Cheers Mate!
