Stuck on splash screen installing Windows 7

Hi everyone,

I've run into a problem and I'm hoping someone can help. I've run into a roadblock and I'm not sure what to do next.

Background;
I found a motherboard and CPU that wasn't being used (new in box). Older LGA1156, but hey, still usable. Anyway, I had some other components and someone just gifted me a new video card, so I thought I'd throw a system together. Assembly went smoothly without issue.

The problem;
When I try to install W7Pro, the install gets to the point where it's just finished copying the files and is starting the splash screen before freezing (or occasionally rebooting). I've been going out of my mind the last few days trying to figure out how to fix this. I've reseated everything (CPU, RAM, video card, cables) with nothing working. I've tried another disk as well. Nothing has worked.

I decided to stick an XP CD (SP2). THAT installed without a hitch. So I'm really stuck as to how to proceed. I'm hoping someone here can give me some insight into where the problem might be.

The details;
Intel DQ57TML w/ Core i5.
8Gb RAM
80Gb SSD hard drive (and I've also tried a traditional HD as well)
Sapphire R7/260X
Windows 7 Pro (pre-SP1)
800w PS.
Internal DVDRW (tried external as well...same results)

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

How is the RAM broken up? 2 4GB SIMMs or 2 2GB SIMMs?
Try reducing the RAM to 2GB if you can. If not, then try 4GB. If same problem, swap the RAM and try again.

You can put all the RAM back after Win 7 is installed.

That actually helped a bit. Thanks!

The computer has 2x4Gb RAM chips. I'm getting a STOP 0x0A error. I'll have to see if I can find some smaller ram lying around that I can try with. I'll let you know what happens.
