subtitle issue

hello
i was having an issue with subtitle joining WMP and WMC
i've searched the forum and found a solution
which was taking ownership of mpfmp.exe file
renaming it and so on
now i can see subtitles with WMP but not WMC as well..don't know why :huh:
so what should i do to see subtitles with WMC too?

I can't see it too with WMP12 and WMPC. Use the Zoom Player, it rulz

you did rename the file and still don't see it in WMP?? God helps you
but know what i can't watch movies in any app. otherwise WMP i find it so cool

Yeah, WMP appearance is the best but it can't reproduce any subtitles, even if it had the same name of the .avi. Sorry for my bad english

see..having subtitle and avi file the same name is not the issue here
you have to rename the mpfmp.exe file after taking ownership of it and only then the subtitle will show up..
try renaming the file and see what'll happen

I am having the same issue with subtitles in WMC. This may be a two part issue, I cannot even get WMC to recognize FDDshow. Anyone having the same issue with FDDshow not being recognized? I am running W7 Beta build 7000.

One thing to keep in mind, if you rename or delete mpfmp.exe, you will NOT be able to play wmv or wma files any more. I guess you have to weigh the need for viewing subtitles over the need to play wmv or wma files. I chose to rename instead of deleting. If you find you have to constantly go back and forth with renaming, then just create two batch files that renames it, and changes it back to the original name respectively.

I installed Shark007.net - Windows 7 Codecs and can see STs in WiMP all day long - even those embedded in .MKVs.

I still haven't figured out how to get STs in WMC, though. It'll play MKVs - just not show the STs. Nor can I change the language like I can in WiMP (I have an MKV of Hancock - default language is German, but it also has the English language in it, and in WiMP I can listen to it in English, but in WMC it always plays German.

I still can't get WMP or MC to play my MkV files. I installed the shark007.net Windows7 codecs, and also the registry fix, and still no luck. In the configuration for shark007, should I change the default for mkv files?

I never change any defaults - and I play MKVs in WiMP without a problem.

In WMC, I don't get STs and I cannot change default language....

Any thoughts as to why the mkv files are not playing even with the shark007 codec installed? I am considering trying either ffdshow, or the klite codec and see how that helps.

Nope - because they play perfectly fine in every Win7 install I have used with the Shark007 codecs.

Jus tto recap:

1) You uninstalled all previous versions of codec packs, right?

2) You installed SHark007's latest Win7 codecs?

3) (only if you're on a 64bit OS) you install the 64bit extensions?

4) (only on 64bit) You're not trying to run the 64bit WiMP are you? If you are you need to make the 64bit player the default in the SHark007 codecs 64bit settings manager....

Yes I uninstalled other codec packs. I originally had the vista codec pack, but I uninstalled it before installing the latest win7 codec. Is there a tool that uninstall all codecs? I installed and ran sherlock codec checker, and I do not see any codecs for mkv (or maybe I don't know what I am looking for). I attached the report that the codec checker created.

They are there - I ran Sherlock on mine and since I have a newer build, 3 yours are not in mine - but 2 were Hauppaauge, and my WinTV 1800 PVR is auto detected by 7068, so I don't laod any extra drivers, and a modem audio device, and since I don't ahve a modem, I am fine not having that one....

But in my list, I have one that you do not -

Oh, and I have both 32bit and 64bit - 64bit on my desktop at home, and 32bit on my laptop - and both play my 26 episode Season 1 and 2 Claymore anime videos which are all .MKV videos.

well if i remember correctly try renaming the mp3dmod.dll (in system32)...
also make sure you have set in ffdshow that subtitles are enabled
also something you can also choose to allow "autoload VSfilter" so that is able to be used in wmc and the same for ffdshow should be under raw video in the codecs section and "enable in wmp11" should be enabled...
but i believe that it should be enabled already as this is geared as a W7 codec pack...

If I understand you correctly, are you saying that based on my codec report, I should be able to play mkv because I have the correct codec installed? Also, I am running build 7000 (upgrading to 7068 this weekend) on a 32bit system. I will try to find some kind of codec cleaner (something to remove all codecs), then reinstall shark007 again, and see if that helps.

That is what I am saying - but Shark's includes a lot of stuff, and he has been making his pack first for Vista and now for both, so I haven't really tried anything else.
