How difficult is it to get all one's files from Microsoft to Mac?
My Computer
At a glance
windows 7
- OS
- windows 7
It should be simple, isn't everything on a mac simple, failproof and 100% totally safe and secure![]()

I was betting on post one...It should be simple, isn't everything on a mac simple, failproof and 100% totally safe and secure![]()
It took four posts before that type of response was given. I was betting on post two.![]()

Moving the files is the easy part. Getting over the fact you've grossly overpaid for identical hardware that has been proven to run Windows 7 faster than OSX....that's the difficult part.

I completely agree and this is true also for Linux systems. It should be simple, isn't everything on a mac simple, failproof and 100% totally safe and secure![]()
Not really. I use a PC and an iMac and while Mac's seems to be more secure and trouble free it is not necessarily so. Go to some of the Mac forums and you'll see as many troubleshooting threads as in a Windows forum. It depends on how you treat your computer. If you are constantly installing and uninstalling software you're more likely to run into problems in both systems.

But the OS is not identical. OSX is optimised for some config. Windows must run hundreds of config.Moving the files is the easy part. Getting over the fact you've grossly overpaid for identical hardware that has been proven to run Windows 7 faster than OSX....that's the difficult part.
I recall reading an ad, this may have been ages ago, that said if you bought a Mac, 'they' would transfer everything for you...? Was this the case at some point, maybe still?
I think I recall them doing this, because the average user will just assume either it can't be done or it's too hard.
Anyway there's a reason Apple hasn't run an ad about Windows 7 yet, food for thought. Leopard isn't as smooth as they'd like you to believe, trust me..
Right, which is why it is an utter embarassment that Windows 7 runs faster on Apple's own hardware. Sit two identical specced computers down side by side...one Apple and one Windows 7. It is mind-blowing the difference in responsiveness. If you don't or can't try it out yourself, there have been several recent tests done and posted, one on Neowin, I think, that benchmarked them both on Apple hardware. But the OS is not identical.
