The is caused by the Nvidia drivers... now... you would need to reinstall it .. use driver sweeper and remove all the traces of the driver and the reinstall the drivers again

If this doesn't resolve it... then try reseating the graphics cards..

Let me know your feedback

i want to tell you two things
1. i've downloaded the latest version of the driver software for my graphics card from the Nvidia website... but when i uninstalled the driver & rebooted my pc then after booting i was not allowed to install the driver from the downloaded driver setup file.. instead windows automatically installed it...

2.after that a message was shown saying my screen resolution is set to 1280 x 1024 .... & do i want to change it?when i went for the "yes" option & selected resolution 1024 X 768(native) from the nvidia control panel -> change resolution -> resolution list..... then it was applied but after applying it the list has gone empty.... now it has got no entry.. so i can't change resolution & refresh rate anymore..

i don't know the reasons of this strange behaviour..
please help me.....

thanks in advance...

alright

follow the steps..

1. Click start and on the search bar... type "Change device installation settings" and click enter

2. You would see the following options as shown below..

View attachment 230923

3. Select "Never install driver software from windows update."

4. click on "save changes"

This will stop windows from automatically installing drivers using windows update..

Next... use Driver Fusion by following the tutorial.

After you remove the nvidia drivers.... reboot the system.... Now you will be able to install the latest drivers

Well glad to hear it has resolved your issue...

In simple terms Windows registry is the place (or database ) where you have settings for your operating system (low level ) to your application settings....

You can read here and here for a more detailed explanation of Windows Registry

If the issue has been resolved... kindly close the thread as solved and rep those helped.

& seems to be the same problem has come back again... my system is not crashing during booting though, but the behaviour during game playing is pretty much the same as in the previos problem..

In post #22 I asked you to reseat the graphics card.... Have you done that ???

what are the temps ??? Since you have speccy installed run it and and then go to file > save snapshot and post it here ...

You can also use speedfan or coretemp to check the temps as well

i've not done the reseating as it was not required, because previously only the use of driversweeper & then reinstallation of the graphic card driver served my purpose.....

by reseating do you mean that i have to unplug the graphic card from the slot and again i've to place it in the slots??...

i've done the reseating & seems to be my gpu is ok now by i don't know how long it will be so...

two things i would like to let you know which are

1. before the installation of COD Black opps my gpu was ok.... after installation when the i was unable to launch the game from the desktop icon because an error message came saying that d3dx9_43.dll file is missing..... so i searched net about this problem & i found that i have to install few directx updates to fix this up ... so i downloaded DirectX 9.0 Web setup.exe (File version -> 6.0.2600.0 & Compatibility Mode -> Windows xp service pack 3).... then i was able to launch the game but the above said problem started to appear again... not only for this game but also for the other games (e.g EA Cricket 2007 & COD 5 WORLD AT WAR) that I have...

2. I have curently 250 gb SATA hard drive of seagate.. but this is the replaced one... i bought my hard drive in 2009... after 6-7 months it stopped booting & i deposited it in their service ceneter & they replaced it with another one... after 1 yr or so i had to replace that too for the same reason... on average after every 7-8 month i am having a issue which is forcing me to replace my hard drive... if i remember correctly then it is actually the 4th repalcement.... every time i've visited their service center i found there many people coming there with so many issues.... & they are replacing their harddrives instead of repairing it,(i suppose the replacements are nothing but the repaired ones of somebody else's)

so i want to ask you

1.by any chance can this directx installation be the culprit??
2.by any chance is the hard drive harming my gpu and causing the problem to occur repeatedly??

what do you think about these??

thank you in advance.....

Yes this can be the culprit . Why did you install Directx 9 ??? Windows 7 comes with Directx 11 installed by default !!!! and YOU RAN THE DIRECTX 9 IN COMPATIBILITY MODE !!!!??????????? Remove directx 9 first...and then reinstall DirectX 11

Please buy the components from a trusted dealer.....Yes even this can be a culprit.... Whats you power supply wattage ??? If you say this is your 4th replacement ..... then there could problem with your power supply or motherboard.... if you are at a place where you constantly loose electricity... and dont have have a UPS... then ... the sudden loss of power... could cause serious issue with the HDD spindle...

my smps is 500 watt of Solitare.... & i have ups.....

i have stated the reasons in my previous post for which i had to install direct x 9.... the game(call of duty black opps) after installation, could not be launched & it said d3dx9_43.dll file is missing.. then i searched the net... there i found that people are suggesting to install directx 9 which would solve the problem.. so i had to do this...

& after that i was able to launch the game...

please tell me how to uninstall the direct x 9 .... as i'm not getting anything about it in the control panel->program & features ...

how shall i re install directx 11???

what about the d3dx9_43.dll error that appeared after the installation of the game?what shall i do about it if it appears again?

thanking you..

ok

First Directx 11 is part of Windows 7.... there are no separate installers for it,....

Second to check what version of Directx you have is to

Click on start > run > and type "dxdiag"

You should see the details as below

i checked my Directx Version by following your method & it is Directx 11...

but still i wanted to remove the effects of previous directx9 installation if any,so i did the following

i uninstalled my gpu driver... & run driversweeper.... after that i run start->control panel-> programs & features, there i found that all the driver programs were uninstalled except the physx system software was still present in the list... i tried to uninstall it by clicking on it & selected uninstall.. but nothing happened....

so i went to registry & cleared all the entries corresponding to physx... & then finally the physx disappeared from the programs & features list............. after that i've done reinstallation of the gpu driver & performed a clean installation... then i rebooted my system... now i see that there is no physx system software in the control panel-> programs & feature list.....

& since from the reinstallation whenever i'm booting my pc for the first time then after the windows logo appeared my screen is turning black.... & it is haulting there, nothing happens anymore.... so i've to manually reboot... this time after the windows logo the desktop is coming...

what should i do now?

thanks in advance..

If you keep doing extra steps which i haven't asked you to do... i can't help you....

When did i ask you to remove phyx for the removing directx 9 ????

Since you keep on creating more problems than resolving .... i would suggest ..... you do a clean install or reinstall Windows 7... Please backup your important files before you do it .
