Solved System Image and System Repair Disc

Hi,

1) Do I have to create a new system repair disc EVERY time I create a new system image?

2). Why is a system repair disc needed?

3). Do I need a system repair disc if I have the original Windows 7 CD?


The reson I ask is I frequently back-up with this utility.

Hello Flotzie, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you have a retail Windows 7 installation DVD, then no you do not have to create a system repair disc since both can be used to boot to the System Recovery Options screen to do a System Image Recovery with.

A system repair Disc, is used to bring you to the System Repair Options, when you cannot boot. A install DVD is used to reinstall the entire OS.
\With every new System Image, you do not need a new repair Disc.

As stated your install DVD and the system repair DVD, which you can make, both have the recovery software on them (winre.wim).
I'd tend to keep the install disks in a safe place since you only have one of these (for clean installs) and use your system repair DVD you burn for repair functions (including reimaging). If one gets damaged, make another.
