System Image: "System cannot find the file specified (0x80070002)"

I have a Dell 2330 all-in-one running Win7 64 bit.

I'm trying to do a system image back up to a USB3 external hard drive. The image will take up about 333gb and I have about twice that amount of space left on the 1 TB drive.

I get the error message: System cannot find the file specified (0x80070002)

I've looked through this forum and found a suggestion that I use the SFC command to repair possibly corrupted files. Two questions:

1. Is this the best way to proceed or should I try something else?

2. Will the SFC alter changes I've made in the registry to slightly modify my keyboard.

You can check the below link for resolving this issue if you do not wish to run SFC to fix this issue:

Error message when you try to restore from a full backup of a Windows Vista-based computer: "The system cannot find the file specified. (0x80070002)"

Also, when you run SFC, files critical to restart Windows that do not match the expected Windows version may be replaced with the correct versions. If a file is repaired, the corresponding registry data is also repaired. Protected files not critical to restart Windows are not repaired.

So, it would be advisable to make a backup of the registry before you run SFC. Please try the steps and let us know if it helps.
