hi there,
I've been lurking the forums for a couple weeks now trying to find a way to fix my pc. The problem is that i don't even know whats wrong with it. I have tried multiple ways to fix it. ive tried the system repair and that doesn't work. i created the system repair disk and that doesnt work either. either it doesnt work or i dont know how to use it. i created the disc, then i restarted my computer. i press f12 the boot dvd/cd-rw then it loads it and says the files are corrupted or damaged and thats it. any help in helping me restore my cpu to factory setting?
on a side note no virus protector i install picks up on the problem since it still persist even after multiple scans. when i run my cpu in safe mode it seems like the problem isnt there since my web browser runs smoothly in safe mode.
i forgot to mention the problem which is my cpu runs the internet pretty slow and some games that require connection to the internet. i had forgotten to make a system restore backup so no luck there. Can anyone help me?

thanks.

Did you create the System Repair disk before or after you started having problems?

unfortunately i created it after i started having problems. truthfully i never knew such a forum existed. theres a lot of helpful links and what not but i found out little to late.

@richc46: im currently running malwarebytes so ill post how that goes, then ill try the clean boot.

If you do the long (90 minute) scan and updated before you started, it will tell us if you have any malware.
If you do not, I think we can solve the problem with clean boot. Make sure you follow the directions.

Do you have access to another computer running the same version of Win 7? If so, you can create a System Repair disk on that other computer to use on your computer.

Built my first computer (8Mhz 8088cpu, 640K RAM, 20MB HDD, 2 360K floppy drives) in 1985 and have been building them for myself, relatives and friends ever since.
ok so i ran the scan and no malware came up. so i started the clean boot procedure. when i first did it (the first step) everything was running fine i was relieved, so i started to use it for a while thinking ill play around a little before finishing the final steps. at this point i plugged back in my wireless router(linksys) thinking that the problem was my computer not the router. as soon as i did that my cpu started to bog down and it went straight back to how it was before. i was pissed. so i took out the router and hoped it would go back to how it was when i first did the clean boot. no luck there, so i tried the clean boot again. it wasn't working at all. i dont know if its because of the router(most likely, but what could be the problem?) or when i clean boot one program never closes down.
the program is the mcafee validation trust protection. i located the mcafee folder and tried to delete it but it said the program was in use. i cant find what is using it or where it is. any help in deleting this so i can try to find out if thats the problem?
also i booted up safe mode so i could post about the problem but even safe mode couldnt stop my pc from acting up( mostly the internet part when i try to connect online.) i know that it isnt my isp though because like i said i did the clean boot and it was working fine.

also no i dont have another pc i dont know whether my friend has vista or window 7. so ill check.

the thing is i got that free trial of mcafee when i bought my pc.i bought this pc not more than 4 months ago. and i hated mcafee anyway so i did the usual, go to remove programs and remove it. but that validation thing was left over for some reason. its not my antivirus. i was using norton AV.
theres also something called softthinks agent service. cant find a folder for it or anything. anyone know what this is?
