OK so i have installed windows 7 on one of my desktops and on my nc10 netbook. I seem to be having a problem with the desktop taskbar it remains in solid grey colour and ocationaly turns black at its own will.

Is there anyway I can reinstall the taskbar or repair it without a fresh install, not sure how relevant but this was an upgrade from vista x64 where the netbook was a fresh install.

Also for the record the fresh install is much quicker and more responsive than the upgrade, which i did not expect as the desktops hardware should give it the edge.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hello maccamac,

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

Do the windows have the glass effect? Try updating your wei score. Also have you changed anything under 'advanced system settings'. I'm assuming that you do have an Aero theme chosen under personalization.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for you reply, I have checked and the windows do have the glass effect and everything else appears to be ok, I have tried a number of themes and they all appear to have a same problem.

So I tried to update my wei and i get the bsod. So I am now about to try a fresh install, I am convinced this is due to the os being an upgrade.
