Tell me what registry cleaner suites windows 7 ultimate

So i guess the next step is to do a system restore http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html

If that doesn't fix it your best options are laid out in this thread: http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/8228-corrupted-registry.html

That's what the computer professional response would be. The same hardcore computer enthusiast response who strongly recommends endorsing or using registry cleaners would have long disabled the system restore feature as it's totally unnecessary and consumes far to many precious computer resources. :) :) :)
I can't tell you how many times I've used System Restore. It's valuable feature to anyone who may ever have problems down the road.

Telling someone to disable system restore is irresponsible and not in the best interest of the casual user.

I disable mine, but only because I make frequent complete drive images w/Acronis & prefer complete drive restore if theres a problem.

But i do agree, advising others to disable it is not a good idea. Especially if there is not alternative method of recovery.

The membership of this forum represents a cornucopia of Windows 7 knowledge, however, I have seen so many threads with a solution of a system restore. I think that is all that has to be said.

Although I agree that system restore is a valuable resource (also for retrieving lost files with Shadow Explorer), it is a rather capricious service that works or it doesn't. I much more a fan of Imaging - that is safer and more reliable. And I know a lot of you will agree - LOL.

But it takes a lot longer to complete and takes tons more space. I rarely ever go back to any of my images...I have them just in case nothing else works. The only image that I frequently re-use is first one right after installation and activation.

The facts are true, but does it matter? The imaging runs in the background and does not keep me from doing other things. And it takes only 12 minutes for my system and data partitions together. The space costs pennies so it does not matter either. I have been too often fooled by system restore. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

10 - 15 minutes is not really a long time especially when you are almost 100% sure it's going to work. I also have to keep my fingers crossed when using system restore.

Great news! Glad to hear you have your system back to normal.

I learned my lesson really quick after running Auslogics Registry Defrag. It screwed up my themes and system fonts. I will never again run a registry app.

none of the spec above is accurate
CCleaner is not a registry cleaner like the Reg Cleaner popup ads that are a sales operation without anything ingenious to back them up.

CCleaner is a disk cleanup which has a tab that allows you to remove inactive Registry keys (shells) that are no longer doing anything except clogging the registry.

I have watched over 10 years as CCleaner has perfected its app to the point where it simply doesn't make mistakes. Yet it still gets lumped into the probs caused by "Registry Cleaner" scams which exist only to sucker people to spend their money.

People get careless in their accusations. Earlier in this thread someone refers to Auslogics Registry defragger messing up their system as though this is a cleaner. Auslogics Disk and Registry defraggers are the state-of-the-art defraggers which also have no verifiable track record of making these kinds of mistakes in ten years experience having installed and used them on several hundred installs.

I am still waiting for someone to make a verifiable case that CCleaner or Auslogics defraggers caused a problem on their computer. These are genius apps that are the leaders of their pack which simply do not make mistakes in my experience.
