If it has folders like documents, etc., then it is associated with a user. Did you create a user named Temp and then delete it?

Hang on, this probably means that your user profile was deleted. You'll probably need to create a new profile for yourself and log into it....THEN delete the temp folder and your old profile.

I've recreated the account and I deleted the temp folder. With the new account the temp folder reappears. The process that blocks the temp folder is lsass.exe in c:/user/temp/appdata/roaming/microsoft/credential. thanks

Sage,

Do you remember getting a user profile error before this happened?

For now, you might see if doing a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before you had this Temp user profile folder to see if it may be able to help.

I would hope I won't have to resort to doing a system restore for this issue, but it seems like there nothing else that can help?

Hey sage79 if your still dealing with this issue try reinstalling your graphic card driver. If your running a nvidia card do a clean installations with customs install. After words uncheck all the added features and run it from there.

System Restore is an unfortunate misnomer.

This strikes unnecessary fear into a user's heart.

System Restore is primarily a registry restore to an earlier date.

Your system, unless you used one of those super-duper speed up and soup-up and tune-up your computer programs will have numerous restore points from which you can choose.

RESTORE TO A PREVIOUS SYSTEM RESTORE POINT

WIN | type SYSTEM RESTORE |ENTER | NEXT |
check Show more restore points (lower left)|
Highlight the desired restore point |
Scan for affected programs (lower right) |
make a note of affected programs |
CLOSE | NEXT | FINISH

WIN is the key with the wavy Microsoft flag on top.
