Solved "This computer is not running Genuine Windows" message

I really need the whole CBS.log file, rather than just the SFC extract (which still only shows the earlier result) - please copy the file to the desktop, then zip it and upload it.

Please also download and run the CheckSUR tool - then post the CheckSUR log as well.

Please run the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 (you'll need to look in the details for Method 2)

then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it to your public SkyDrive so I can take a look - post a link in your reply.
The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and will exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.

I can't find CBS.log. Did a search and it came up with nothing.

I'll run the tool after I go to class today.

For some reason, teh system is attempting to access the D: drive at this point - to get the file d:\win7sp1_gdr\base\wcp\sil\merged\ntu\ntsystem.cpp

I have no idea why it should be asking for that file - we definitely need the CheckSUR results!

CheckSUR found no problems :(

I honestly have no idea what's happening here, so I can only advise you to back up your data to external media, and prepare for a repair install (unless you fancy a really long bout of trying to identify the source of the problem)

See Brink's tutorial on the process, http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html - ask questions before you do anything, as it can be too late once it's under way!

I plan on getting Windows 8 when it's time. Do I need to still do a repair install? It may seem like a dumb question, but I'm curious.

If you plan on doing a clean install of Windows 8 then you can get away without a repair for the moment - but if you want to be able to do an Upgrade install, you MUST fix the problems with this one first.

PLEASE! - post a new MGADiag report, and a new CBS.log file
I find it very frustrating when people say everything is fine after a repair - and ten days later come back with a 'new' problem :)

It's helpful to get that warm feeling that you *know* that there's nothing more you can do!

Either way, good luck!

Nah - the file mismatches are because the WAT update has been partially uninstalled by the repair....

Close all open windows.
Open an Elevated Command Prompt window, and type the following command

wusa /uninstall /kb:971033

and hit the Enter key
Accept the warnings/confirmations, and wait for it to complete

copy and paste the output (if any) from the command prompt window to a reply here,
Reboot

reinstall the update from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033
Reboot

run another MGADiag report, and post it for check purposes (it should be fine!)
