Oh for ****S SAKE!!! This is my 5th installation, installed windows from a brand new disk. I haven't even activated the damn thing it's the trial version of the ultimate directly from M$. 2 minutes and 37 seconds into the new install (yeah i timed it) i got the network problem. First it popped of as limited access and the i was completely cut of from network and sharing center etc. Whenever this occures, i can't shut down my computer without holding the power button.

idk what's gonna happen now but i have some strange feeling that it's not gonna work. Is this 100% because of the wireless adapter that i got? Or is it that Ralink can't make a proper driver for their own hardware. I sitll havnen't installed the driver, 50% to dl. So i'm w8ing on a result, which i'm sure would be non-existent. At any rate a believe that the OS isn't faulty since i just dlded a fresh copy. Before i try to move the computer (cuz there's no way i can move the router) 1 floor down at the far end of the corridor and connect it on a frikkin chair, i really want to be sure that there's no way to have a wireless connection.

I'm sorry if it's annoying to the know-how's cuz the problem rises up again and again no matter what i do, but that's the reason i got to this forum... i can't figure it out at all.Anyway if u guyz got spare time and any idea whatsoever, plz post. Tnx again.

After five reinstalls of Windows, it should occur to you that it is no longer a software problem. When you close the window and you still feel a draft inside your room, you gotta realize it is no longer coming from the closed window.

So you were a Ranger. I was in the 2nd Calvergy Regiment for the Army... stationed in Vilseck, Germany.

to the orginal poster can you do this...

Open Start->Type in "Manage"->Hit Enter->Choose "Device Manager"->When the new window shows up, click the arrow beside Network Adapters->Right-Click the network adapter and hit Properties->Click on "Details" tab->From the drop-down list choose "Hardware IDs"->Copy and paste all the you see into a reply here so I can check it out...

Hopefully I will get a driver for 7 that works for it...if this doesn't work than surfasb is correct and the hardware has malfunctioned

I reinstalled 5 time's because i believed that the problem was in the disk i was using since it had a scratch in it and i recieved a data error during the first installation which stopped appearing as i persisted with restarting the installation process.

Zidane24, i appretiate the effort you are making but i don't think it will be necessary, since i think i cracked the case...the router isn't listed in windows 7 copatibility list. I feel really stupid right now ,though i don't get how is it working for a certain amount of time and then it just stops. I'm going to get e new router that is compatible and if i achieve my target objective then the problem will be solved. Or is it possible for M$ to miss a model? Even so i'm going to copy the Hardware ID's here in a sec,you can spend time on that if you think that there's a possibility in the router not being the issue, but i really doubt it. I'll fill you in if there's a problem with a new router. Tnx to all who assisted me in this problem.

If your router isn't on the compatiblity list there is little chance that it will work correctly. That list has proven to be correct so many times I have lost count.

Now isn't the easy way of fixing things so much...well easier.

I have found that it's much easier to spend a few bucks than to spend days attempting to fix a problem. Especially true when you have a handy tool like the Windows compatiblity advisor which seems to be fairly accurate. Glad to see you up and running again.

Kool, I know Vilseck, I was stationed in Germany from 91-93. Stationed at ledward barracks down in Schweinfurt. I spent a LOT of time in Graff, and I remember, Vilseck is right next to Graff. Yeah I miss active duty, but I still get to jump with my guard unit.
