I have W7, of course, and my primary media player is GomPlayer. I have some AVI, FLV, and other kinds of video files. GomPlayer plays all of these video files just fine. I have codecs that I installed straight from the Gomplayer site as well as the K-lite codec pack.

Here is my problem: Most of my video files have a thumbnail show a screenshot from the video. But a few of the AVI and FLV files do not have a screenshot thumbnail. All they have is the GomPlayer logo. Most of the AVI files display a screenshot thumbnail, but a few do not. Why is this? How can I get these other files to generate and display a screenshot thumbnail?

Welcome!

Have you tried playing those files without the thumbnails?

Regenerate your thumbnails. Go to start menu type in disk cleanup
Run the program and it can delete all your thumbnails. Afterwards, you can reset your thumbnails.
In addition, your klite codec package is VERY LIKELY the source of the problem. Codec packages are usually slow buggy and horribly bloated. If you want a codec package, use Shark007's codec package shark007.net

For the AVI files without thumbnails, acquire the program called DivFix++ (it's free)
Load your AVI's into that program and press the Fix button.
Also consider dumping all your codecs especially K-crap and use the Win7codecs
