Turn off remember folder settings?

In windows XP, I could turn off the annoying "remember folder settings" that forced each folder to have it's own settings instead of always being in the same as the one I left it when I closed it.

Windows 7 does not do that.

I can tell it to "make all folders like current" which isn't what I want. Is there an option or was that removed to be made inferior to XP in another way?

Unfortunately i'm not sure there is an option to remember folder size/position. I don't think it was present even in Vista

Has anybody ever found a way to turn off remembering folder settings or an equivalent effect. A way to make windows always use the same view for every folder? For example, I sort one by date, and move to the next and it will be sorted by date. Then I sort by name, and move to the next one and it will still sort by name instead of using the last setting I had used in that folder? WITHOUT my having to go into settings every time I change something like that and telling it to make like current.

I've searched for this issue for months now, as it's getting on my nerves. I'm tired of rmb + V + L (right click / view / list) everytime I open hundreds of folders!!! And there isn't at least a reg hack to do this. Even utilities like Windows 7 Manager doesn't have this simple option. I guess we'll just have to cope with this for some time. I didn't used T.Commander or ExploreXP in WinXP, but now it seems I'm forced to use them...

I would have gladly given T.Commander a try, but alas it doesn't work for 64-bit.

To me though, this is just another example of poor leadership at microsoft these days.

They've taken away the ability to adjust the internet explorer toolbars, so I went to Firefox.
Now they don't want us tweaking folder settings.
Their Office software has become such a nightmare of complications, that I switched to a small freeby application I found online.

You would think no one at Microsoft ever used a large panel monitor with multiple hard drives.

Because if they did, they would realize how difficult it is to have every single folder open up in the exact same space no matter which browser is open, and no matter which hard drive is being accessed.

If Ubuntu ever releases a true Windows equivalent os, i'll be one of the first to say goodbye to this nonsense.
