I recently had to uninstall and then reinstall Windows Live Mail 2011. Since I've done that, I now get a UAC dialog box when I click WLM's icon. I don't get the UAC box when I open IE8, Firefox, and other programs, although with still others, I do get the UAC box. I have right-clicked on WLM's icon, clicked Properties>Advanced, and set it to run as administrator, but I still get the UAC dialog box.
Why do I get the UAC dialog box with some programs and not others? Some are set to run as administrator, while others, are not. The box's appearance seems random, and it makes no sense to me.
I am aware of Brink's excellent tutorial on creating an elevated program shortcut without the UAC prompt. But I seem to have avoided the prompt with some programs but not with others. I'm wondering what's the key there to my (inadvertently) having done that.
Thanks.
