UK Currency Pound sign

I brought a keyboard back from Canada to the UK last year and would like to know how to get the UK pound sign, I have tried all sorts of key combinations without success.

Hold down alt + 0156 (on the keypad) or alt + 0163

This method is even easier. When you get to the Character Map click 'Advanced View' and make sure 'Unicode' is listed for character set and then in the box next to it type: 00A3

Next click 'copy' and then you can paste it wherever you'd like

If you use UK keyboard layout, you get the £-sign from SHIFT + 3. Couldn't be easier.
