WUA 7.6.7600.256 is a bit of a pain to find, it's a bit of a funny update and isn't hosted under the conventional fashion, instead we get a lovely 404:

http://download.windowsupdate.com/w...one/7.6.7600.256/windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe

I don't know why, but Microsoft didn't release a standalone installer for 7.6.7600.256. Instead, they bundled it in here:

An update for Windows Server Update Services 3.0 Service Pack 2 is available

After going quite deep into those archives, you will find this archive:

WUSSetup.msp\PCW_CAB_SUS\f_7d330e57.BE2E96D2_4460_4371_84DE_4148273456C7\AU\x64\Vista

Which contains these cabinet files:

WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~7.6.7600.256.cab
WUClient-SelfUpdate-Aux-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~7.6.7600.256.cab
WUClient-SelfUpdate-ActiveX~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~7.6.7600.256.cab

I've attached all of the files that you need Noel :) I've also uploaded the three cabinet files to my Dropbox for you, should you need them in the future:

That was sneaky! :)

Please post the new CheckSUR log so we can see it - please also run another SFC /SCANNOW and post the new CBS.log.

I'll post a fix protocol for that in a bit :)

I've uploaded a file - sooaa.zip - to my SkyDrive at https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=936736BB8FCEB92F&id=936736BB8FCEB92F%21526
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
This should create a folder C:\sooaa

Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)
Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type
DIR C:\sooaa
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\sooaa
or
DIR E:\sooaa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\sooaa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

run the command (it should take almost no time)and when the prompt returns, type
EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your SkyDrive Public folder, and post a new link

Also run a new MGADiag report, and post the result.

When I reboot and get into the Advanced Boot Menu, the option 'Repair my computer' is missing. What can I do to enable it?
