I'm not sure if this is due to device failure or what because my touchpad is also not responding. I'm running on Win7. This has happened once before, but I managed to fix it somehow.

I've already tried reinstalling the drivers and firmware to the mouse.

My mouse: Razer DeathAdder 3500DPI.

Issue

I'll be playing World of Warcraft casually, windowing back and forth from Skype to World of Warcraft, clicking the icons on the taskbar, but since this morning, it's like my mouse clicks aren't registering.

The icons don't shift colors like they normally would if you hover over them.
It's the same if I try with the touchpad.

It even just locks up sometimes when I'm randomly playing wow and my left click, right click, and mouse wheeling does not respond.

No, I'm not a clicker, but my screen won't turn and this is very detrimental to my game-play.

The only solution is to Ctrl+Alt+Del and then start the task manager and I can click once again until it happens, soon after.

Other

I've scanned my computer with MWB and Eset Nod32. No viruses.

I would like to get this solved as soon as possible. Thank you!

Any help regarding this issue? It's still persistent even through a sys. restore if that helps. I have no clue what sort of issue this could be.

I'm really a crash dump reader, the first thing I usually point to in this kind of situation is a driver conflict of some sort. Without a minidump file to read I'm kind of shooting in the dark though.

Would you want to use Teamviewer to look through my system?

EDIT1: I also have Skype, Teamspeak, and Ventrilo if you want to talk about it on there and I can give you the information you need to figure out what the issue is. It's really bothersome and I cannot do arenas at all because it costs my team matches when I can't turn my screen and see what's going on.

EDIT2: @12:32 EST: Restarting USB ports, drivers, etc again.

Still not working. And the side mouse key on the DeathAdder is like being spammed when I'm not even hitting it. The mouse is like malfunctioning or there is a driver issue. I've reinstalled them several times.

This is really frustrating because I have no clue why it's locking up and spamming just that one key. Can someone point me in any direction?

Also when I have a window open, like this one for instance, I cannot click out to go to another, sometimes.

BTW: I checked under Device Manager and it's supposedly working properly.

Thieve,
So I can get a better grasp of your system, and so that others who come along further down in this thread can do the same:

UPDATE YOUR SEVENFORUMS SYSTEM SPECS

User CP (3rd item in the top menu bar) |

in left-hand column, under Your Profile, Edit System Spec |

using SIW and Speccy to gather info, fill in the blanks.
Do me a favor and add the word laptop or desktop to the “system manufacturer” block.
Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader, Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.

=============================
Post a msg when this action is completed.

Thanks,

Excellent.

Since it is a 64 bit system, you might want to consider having 6 GB of ram as a minimum.

However, let's try following:
Run both the Cleaner and Registry portions of CCleaner (link in my sig). Don't worry, despite the opinions of a a few who haven't used and overused CCloaner as I have, your computer will not catch on fire and blow up. CCleaner will also backup your registry before cleaning.

Then use the Tools part of CCleaner as explained below:
LIST OF STARTUP PROGRAMS USING CCLEANER

CCleaner | Tasks icon | Startup tab | click on Save to text file button (bottom right side)

Using the PAPER CLIP icon in the top panel of a Message Reply window, attach the .txt file generated by CCleaner.

Excellent. Now:

WIN | type MSCONFIG | ENTER | STARTUP tab |
uncheck ALL except for:
SynTPEnh %ProgramFiles%\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe

egui "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET NOD32 Antivirus\egui.exe" /hide /waitservice

Apply and oK buttons and RESTART your computer.

You haven't deleted anything this way, but rather told Windows that you didn't want those programs to run at startup time.

Oh yes, WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.

EDIT: The problem persists. I still have an issue clicking out of windows onto the desktop and taskbar by the way if you're curious.

It just doesn't register the clicks, the icons on the taskbar do not even highlight, or react as they're supposed to.

I posted this above, but I'll re-post in case you missed it.

It just doesn't register the clicks, the icons on the taskbar do not even highlight, or react as they're supposed to.

It's at completely random times as well. I definitely believe it has to do with my DeathAdder mouse, but I've not a clue as to why it would be doing this.

Not good.

Clear out your event logs, then reboot your computer.

Go into Event Viewer and see if there are any critical errors listed.

CLEAR EVENT LOGS

To delete those event logs, you can:
Ø Copy and Paste following into Notepad.
Ø Save as ClrEventLogs.BAT (or another name but extension must be BAT)
Ø Navigate to ClrEventLogs.BAT using Windows Explorer
Ø Right-click on ClrEventLogs.BAT
Ø Click on Run as Administrator

@echo off
FOR /F "tokens=1,2*" %%V IN ('bcdedit') DO SET adminTest=%%V
IF (%adminTest%)==(Access) goto noAdmin
for /F "tokens=*" %%G in ('wevtutil.exe el') DO (call :do_clear "%%G")
echo.
echo goto theEnd
:do_clear
echo clearing %1
wevtutil.exe cl %1
goto :eof
:noAdmin
Exit

To run Event Viewer:
WIN | type EVENTVWR.MSC | ENTER
let the event viewer populate.
After that, Right-clcik on Critical thee in the center area and choose
View all instances.

See anything interesting there?

No critical errors, but some warnings: 2 of them, they weren't important LMS and WLAN.

This mouse thing blows my mind. I have no idea what to think. I've had it happen once before, but I'm not sure how I fixed it. I want to say I just reinstalled the drivers, but that's not working this time.

I'm going to reinstall the drivers once more and maybe try a different USB on my laptop for my mouse tomorrow. I don't know. The port is working fine according to my Device Manager.

Just tell me what you think and I'll check back here as soon as I'm on tomorrow. It's really late, so I'm going off for the night.

Thanks for the help anyways. Hopefully we can figure it out tomorrow.

Also have an Asus ha1002xp netbook with Win 7 Ultimate installed.
i found this via google and just created an account to post here. i have EXACTLY the same symptoms!

my system was runnig fine with win Vista. i did now format and install windows 7 64bit, and am getting this problem. the symptoms are exactly the same. i first thought it was the mouse, but it seems to be software related.

it seems to only occur when i have TS3 running. TS3 will stay in the foreground, i cant click on symbols, clicks wont react, i cant "drag" windows on the desktop after i win+d. the way to get it running again is ctrl+alt+del, press "task manager" twice, then it reacts again (for a random amount of time. sometimes it bugs out right away again, sometimes it works quite a while). i tried the CCleaner method, to no success. when it occurs it seems like the mousewheel is spammed all the time (pressing, not scrolling), similar to OP describing his button 5 to be "spammed".

My hardware:

Logitec G5, newest setpoint
ASUS P5Q deluxe
(Dual core prozzi
radeon HD 4800)

all drivers are the newest. im pretty confident the problem occurs only when running the TS3 client (64 bit, newest version). i did reinstall TS3, but it wont fix the issue! i hope we can find a solution

kind regards
th4nir

edit: aha! i can reproduce the problem and specified it: it occurs when TS3 runs. BUT: if i close logitec setpoint before i start TS3, the problem does not seem to occur! i cant say that 100% yet because i couldnt test enough, but i highly suspect some sort of incompability between logitech setpoint and TS3! @OP: try closing your mouse-software task and tell me if the problem still occurs!
