Unable to play recovered video and audio files

Iam unable to play recovered audio and video files,which i deleted previously.I used softwares like avg undelete and iobit undelete.Not even single file is playing.Why??

When you delete stuff, it just deletes the name and marks the space used by the file on the HDD as available. If you then use the computer, that available space may be overwritten. Any recovered (undeleted) file thus may be corrupt. If you need to undelete a file, you have the best chance of recovery if the pc has not been used at all in the meantime. It's a kinda lottery.

Depending on what the file types are your probably missing the codec ?
