Unable to re-install Windows 7 after Trojan

Hi,

My Sony Vaio i3 came with Windows 7 pre-installed on the system - activation code on a label under the machine, no disks.

I've now got a fairly serious Trojan wreaking havoc on my system and according to AVG the only way to rid it is to wipe Windows and start again. This doesn't bother me, I have all my essential files backed up and the system was running slow for a while before this anyway. However, for some reason I can't seem to re-install Windows. I have no backup (I know, silly me, please don't point out how stupid this is) so I have no restore point that I can return to.

When I tried to re-install Windows earlier I was told some of the restore files were missing and the operation would be terminated.

Any help would be greatly appreciated on this, just so I can blitz everything my system and start from scratch. I have moderate knowledge of computers but nothing amazing.

Edit: Just scanned with Avast and the reason the file cannot be cured is because it is read only - the original file has been deleted and replaced with the Trojan.

Do you have a win7 install dvd? If not do you need 64 or 32 bits? And what language? Home Premium,professional or ultimate?

Do this to open a command prompt when booting from install dvd

diskpart
list disks
[COLOR=red]I assume disk 0 is the only one![/COLOR]
[COLOR=black]select disk 0[/COLOR]
[COLOR=#000000]clean[/COLOR]
[COLOR=#000000]exit[/COLOR]

Now disk 0 is totally empty. No virus, even a rootkit survives this.

Now install win7 clean

English x64: X17-58997.iso

Download and burn to DVD. Check if you did it right so try to boot from DVD.

I downloaded the last link you gave, extracted the folder X17-58997 to my desktop and burned that whole folder to a blank DVD.

What do I do now?

just rightclick the ISO itself (don't extract). "Open with" windows burning
