I've slept well thinking the back-up of my laptop, which I can view on my external hard drive, would work for me in a crisis. But I've lost a file and was going to attempt to recover it from my back up and Windows tells me there is no back up. I did both an Image back up and a regular back up. The backup folder is 210 GB and 13 files. Anyway to be able to view those? Using Windows 7 Home Prem on 64 bit Dell XPS Laptop with a 1.5 TB External WD drive.
Thanks
Tim

I don't know why, but they could be hidden. So, open the Start Menu, type folder options, press Enter, and then select the setting called "Show hidden files, folders, and drives". Click OK and then refresh the folder.

Thanks, but no hidden files or folders. I can view the files in Explorer, but windows can't find them to restore.

Hi Tim,

I understand it must be frustrating to loose a backup when you need it the most. Please let us know if you have used Windows Backup and Recovery to make a backup or Dell Datsafe Local Backup to create a image backup.

If you have used the dell software for the backup then check the link below for restoring system from a backup:

Hope it helps.
