unknown partition appeared!!!

The reason to avoid Dynamic is for a HDD that has a booting Windows on it, Dynamic is known to disable the boot function sometimes and Windows, not to mention data will be lost.

I don't have a system on that HDD but if at some point if I need to convert it (dynamic to basic) do I have to format my entire drive or I could do it partition by partition so I can save my data on them?

You would have to do the entire HDD but the Partition Wizard boot CD linked in my earlier post is extremely reliable though backup is always the operable word.

Absolutly not, in no way am I saying that you would need a 3rd party SW recovery program

Yeah, don't worry, I misunderstood:) I read your thread about that and I must say its very good I usually just copy everything somewhere else and copy them back again...
Could this partition be a virus?
