Unstoppable Auto Lock

So I had a friend stay over a few days and had to enable the auto lock feature and ask for a password (yeah "had", I know). Before anything was changed I had power options set to turn off my screen after 10 minutes and not to ask for a pass on resume. Post friend visit I had screen set to power off like same cept ask for a password. Friend left and tried undoing my settings.

I currently have, under power options, Don't require a password selected, power off monitor to never, under group policy "Prompt for password on resume" set to disabled, and disabled password logon under userpasswords2. On the screen saver settings dialog then screen saver is set to none and the "On Resume, Display logon screen" is greyed out and CHECKED. Wait is currently set to 10 however after 1 minute windows autolocks. That started after my frustration with the issue and I changed a setting I can't find anymore. Setting wait to 9999 doesn't affect the 1 minute timer.

I don't want it to auto lock anymore and google found only 1 other person with a similar issue and no one had an answer. I can't figure it out and I fix computers for a living. Anyone have an ideas?

Hi! Verdigo, welcome to W7F :)

The option:

"On Resume, Display logon screen" is greyed out and CHECKED
Might be that way because you say you do not have a screensaver selected...Try selecting one, click Apply, and see what happens.

There is also this tutorial:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/15322-screen-saver-password-protection-enable-disable.html

Since you have 7ultimate see if option three, step four will work.

But I feel once you do select a screensaver the option will revive.

Thanks for the reply! I've already tried both those options I'm afraid. I tried the reg files for disabling and setting to default and neither worked for stopping the auto lock nor ungreyifying the check box in screen saver. The most common\obvious stuff I've already tried. Cept posting and asking for help :D.

Do you have other accounts on the computer? Do they auto-lock too?

If the other accounts don't auto-lock, maybe it would just be a case of recreating the problem account and moving your files back on into it?

I read that one too. After it didn't help I registered here to ask around. Ok so I created a new profile like Rei suggested. I migrated my user files over and left to get something to eat. I came back and windows wasn't auto locked! So now I will see how this goes.

Aye, shows 0.
If you delete it, it should return to normal, but since your trying RT's solution, and it is working I would stay with that.

+1 Rei!
