For some reason, my Win7 machine is not updating.
See attached pics.
I can not find anything on this specific error code.
I have tried to manually install several updates, but they usually fail. I have plenty of free space on the hard drive and the computer is plugged in.
I have scanned with Malwarebytes and Superantispyware and removed anything both said to remove.
I have tried to update from wired connection instead of wireless.
What else to do?

Hi 3Dpiper,

here's the little devil causing the problem
Licensing Data-->
C:\Windows\system32\slmgr.vbs(1333, 5) (null): 0xC000000E

Its rather unusual
from an admin command prompt, copy/paste the following,
reg query "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}"

Response should be:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}
(Default) REG_SZ VB Script Language

reg query "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}\InprocServer32"

Response should be:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}\InprocServer32
(Default) REG_SZ C:\Windows\system32\vbscript.dll
ThreadingModel REG_SZ Both

Please advise me if there are any differences or references to an AV in yours,
>>>BEFORE moving on to the next section<<<

cscript %windir%\System32\slmgr.vbs /ilc %windir%\System32\licensing\ppdlic\Security-Licensing-SLC-ppdlic.xrm-ms

Hit the Enter key
Reboot twice

Back in command prompt
net stop sppsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)

cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
(the above is all one line)
cd %windir%\system32

net start sppsvc

cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc

(It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)

Reboot Twice
You may be required to enter your product Key

Rerun the tool

(Default) REG_SZ C:\Windows\system32\vbscript.dll
ThreadingModel REG_SZ Both

Please advise me if there are any differences or references to an AV in yours,
>>>BEFORE moving on to the next section<<<

when I type in the first command, I get:

Code:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}
    (Default) REG_SZ VB Script Language

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}\ProgID

The second command I get:

    (Default) REG_SZ C:\Windows\system32\vbscript.dll
    ThreadingModel REG_SZ Both

When I run the cscript, I get this:

Code:
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host Version 5.8
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0xB
BA' to display the error text.
Error: 0xBBA

the script is looking for %windir%\System32\licensing\ppdlic\Security-Licensing-SLC-ppdlic.xrm-ms
but there is no 'licensing' folder under System32
and I do not see the file "Security-Licensing-SLC-ppdlic.xrm-ms anywhere on my system

Hi 3Dpiper,
did you run these

Back in command prompt
net stop sppsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)

cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
(the above is all one line)
cd %windir%\system32

net start sppsvc

cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc

(It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)

You may be required to enter your product Key

and from a run command, re-register the dll using
regsvr32 vbscript.dll

Reboot X2

Rerun the tool

Hi 3Dpiper,

Where did you get your Office key.
Its unusual - not a standard retail key, you can only get it from MS if you bought it anywhere else you were scammed.

Uninstall Office
REBOOT

try SP1

rerun the tool

I have no idea, this is an older machine I just keep around to run our media server for the xbox.
All our other machines are upgraded to Win10.

Hi 3DPiper,

That licence was issued as part of an MSDNA subscription. (min cost $2000)
From what i can find that comp only came with Vista.
(you can check on the COA certificate to see what it came with).

As i said earlier i believe MS has blocked the key
So no updates.
note the keys in this range are known to be suspect.

You will have to purchase a genuine key to get updates, as i believe its a non-genuine install.

Hi 3DPiper,
Apperently those were given away by MS.
BUT were marked NOT FOR RESALE.
eBay sales of Windows 7 party packs halted - CNET

Id guess what they've done is block a second activation, possibly using a boot script setting, which is what the 2 error codes indicate, as i said originally very unusuall.
(original recipients would have both sets of discs, 32/64, but could only activate one)

Maybe they were trying to force everyone to upgrade to Win10?
Like I said, this is the ONE machine we are keeping on 7 (not that we are unhappy with 10)..
