Update your Win 7 installation media

Hi SIW2,
First of all a huge Thank You for your updater !
Saved my PC that was victim of the August patch (KB4512506) and could not boot anymore.

I used version 31 to create a DVD including the NVMe drivers, but I could not initially create an updated iso image.


As far as I understand the problem is that the script references "BIN\bootorder.txt" in several commands but it has previously performed a cd to BIN (so it is looking for BIN\BIN\bootorder.txt).

No I did not intergrate the "KB" MS update files into my iso as I misunderstood they were for recognising a new drive on an already up and running system.
Ok, so I will have another go over the weekend... lost to much sleep already.. yawn!

Hi SiW2,
Machine has been stolen away by my son. (Real owner, not me). I have a good ol' desktop running win 7.
The good news is the program he so desperately needed to run in win 7 (the whole reason I started this) is running in win 10 compatibility mode win 7.. it looks stable. Cheats way out. Real test tomorrow at work.

MS should still be supporting this stuff, Samsung should have updated drivers for their new SSD's.. should have, would have, could have...

I still want to get this ISO up and running with the updated files.

Did you integrate the MS nvme updates?


According to Dieter: NVMe Controllers DEV_A804 of the Samsung PM981 OEM SSDs.

I suggest you use dism++ to integrate them into boot.wim and whatever your image number is in install.wim

If you get a message they are not signed, just click install anyway.

64 bit Install.wim contains several Editions - Home basic, Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate. They are images 1,2,3 and 4.


32 bit also has Starter edition, so the 32 bit Install.wim has 5 images.


Those are the consumer Editions.


Fancier editions such as Enterprise contain only that edition and therfore only have one image in the install.wim


Some installation media created by oems also only contain one edition (image)


You only need to install updates into the image number ( Edition) you are going to use.

Win 7 doesn't natively have USB3 drivers so they need to integrated [added] to the installation ISO [install & boot].

I believe I misstated what I want / need.

The objective is great but I could never accomplish it.
Yes, I would like to buy a CD or DVD that contains all of the above.
I believe it was referred to as 'Windows-7 Pro Service Pack Two'.
I realize Microsoft hasn't and most likely will not produce this.
If someone else did, not infringing on Microsoft's Rights, WOW, how wonderful it would be.
I am in the market if and when it becomes available.

[1] You will not be able to get a CD/DVD that contains the USB3 drivers, hence the thread to integrate them into the ISO.
[2] The last release of Win 7 was Win 7 SP1!

It is possible to get the DELL installation media, which has some drivers and updates included, that is from 2016.
Might not necessarily be the drivers for your machine, some of those updates are superseded and there have been quite a few more since.

It is better to update the regular media using 7UPdater

Thanks for this extremely useful utility. I am out in the sticks on a very slow download connection, is it possible for me to download the Simplix update pack when at work on a fast connection and bring it back home on say a stick drive and use (integrate) it from there? Thanks.

Yes. Then copy it next to 7Updater.cmd. It will find it there.

In fact, generally speaking, what do you need to extract from many driver installation utilities that come with a new motherboard on a CD or DVD, or the latest from the maker's web sites, many / most are .exe files.

Most of the *.exe files you can open with 7zip and then extract the *.ini,*.cat, *.sys etc
