Updating computer - not gaming though

My computer is about 7 years old. I made it when the i7 came out and Geforce 8800gtx was the rage.

I'm now going off gaming and use it for general use. I have turn tables connected to the PC and use this regularly.

I want to upgrade my motherboard and processor. I want go keep my ddr3 muskin ram and my new graphics card.

I want something a bit more modern and faster (well today's specs). I want the motherboard to support my current ram and sata hard drives.

I would also like digital audio so I can use this for my turn turn tables... I don't suppose it would make much difference otherwise?

I saw something like this on eBay for example 321814144951

What are your thoughts. My current specs are in my sig.

You didn't mention what your budget was, but AddRAM's suggestions are solid choices.

Depends on the CPU. A 4 GHz quad or 8 core would give acceptable performance at a lower cost than a new Intel system, but the performance edge definitely belongs to Intel. Especially with the 4790K.

So for around £250 you can get Asus z97 and a Intel 4690K? Seems reasonable. There are so many z97 to choose from, the cheapest seems the Pro ' P'.

You could consider holding back for a while until the Syklake CPUs and motherboards stabilize a little.
