Last year I downloaded Windows 7-64 ISO files from Digital River before the shutdown. I burned the files to a USB drive so I assume they will still work in a clean install. Will I have a problem when I try to activate Windows?

Not as long as it's the right version, Starter, Home, Pro or Ultimate and you have a valid Windows 7 key for that version.

Should install and activate okay.

Thanks for your reply.

I have a valid product key but it's an OEM key. Given Microsoft's change of policy with regard to ISOs, I was concerned that the activation process may see an OEM key with non-OEM installation files.

The install files are the same, there`s no difference.

Will this install and key be used on the same pc that the oem key originally came from ?

If not you will more then likely have to make a robo call.

You may have to phone MS and talk to the 'robot' but you should have no problem activating.

Thanks. I have experienced the robot calls so no worries there.

You can use the original oem key over and over again on the original oem motherboard, if you change the mb you have to buy a new key, you can try the oem key on a new MB and make the robo call if that situation ever arrived, it might work, but that is not technically legal.

Just to update, I did a clean install and it was smooth as silk. Activation even worked which is a first for this computer.
