Wd elements ext hdd not working... Help????

Ok guys so I just got a brand new PC with Windows 7 and upon installing my WD Elements 1 TB Ext HDD I have found that I can't open it and that it isn't visible on "my computer".
I can't even partition the drive when I go to "manage" in the "my computer" section.
Any thoughts ppl???


BTW it worked perfectly on my XP desktop system !!!

Win 7 seems to have some problems with USB and Firewire ext HDD's

So should I remove the Hard drive out of the casing and have it run as an internal???
