Western digital mybook 1tb without case

Hi.
I have a strange problem.

I have the western digital mybook 1tb external hard disk but i have an accident and the case is broke so i decide to take apart ONLY the sata hard disk western digital greem 1tb and put it to another usb2sata case(Not wd case) and connect it to my pc.

The result was to see this hard disk ONLY at device manager and nowhere else.

How i can access to my personal data files so i restore it because i believe these data is encrypted with wd(Never use the wd smartware when the wd case worked simply coonected to my usb and copy files into that hard disk).

Is there any solution for that?

I am sorry your WD external drive got damaged!
The WD My Book has hardware encryption and that would be why you can't access your files.
Unfortunately, by taking apart the drive from the My Book you've voided the warranty and now you can't RMA it.
Are you sure the drive isn't visible anywhere else? Computer management/Disk Management, My Computer?
Decryption of the drive can't be done from home so for now your only option would be a Data Recovery company.
There are also always data recovery software and programs, but I have to warn you that the more you try on your own, the less a professional can do from there on.

I've had to put the drive back in the external case (or just connect it to the internal board), remove my data, then take the drive out of the WD controller. Once I formatted the drive when connected to a regular external case, I could use it again.

The case could be broken, but as long as the actually controller board is fine, you can still use it to get to your data.

I know that if i format the hard disk everything going work fine but i want the data files i have on it so.....

I take apart exactly for that reason.
Doesn't has any warranty so....

Does the controller still work? If it's just the case that's broken, you can still get to your data.

Bummer! It seems that the encryption is doing it's job by preventing unauthorized access to your data. Unfortunately, it's also preventing you from accessing your data as well.

Encryption is a double edged sword that can both help and hurt you. Hope you are able to get your data recovered. Have you tried contacting WD to ask if they can help? They may just refer you to a recovery company but I think at this point it would be worth a shot to at least approach them about it.
