Just get whatever you like and don't worry about what your friends and family think.

Personally, I don't like any of those listed. I'd rather have a plain black or silver lid, got no need to make a fashion statement with my laptop!

Built my first computer (8Mhz 8088cpu, 640K RAM, 20MB HDD, 2 360K floppy drives) in 1985 and have been building them for myself, relatives and friends ever since.
That is really a matter of personal preference and taste. I myself would not bother with another lid, but I am 73, not 16.

I completely understand that the 'look' of something can be very important to a 16 year old guy --- and what his friends think is also important. But the other posters are right, in that it's really a matter of YOUR personal preference and hard for any of us to choose for you. But have fun with the selection process and good luck with your choice! (Maybe, when you're making your selection, think about what 'message' you want to give, concerning your laptop -- for example, serious, playful, hip, moody, edgy, artistic, etc. That might help you make your choice.)

From an 80 year old guy to a 16 year old guy, here's my advice: Get whatever you like and don't worry about what others may think. Regardless of what style you get, you will find someone who doesn't like it.
