Well drivers depend on what you are doing?

Also please note...

When you install new software they come with drivers.

Installing them manually is "normally" Used on custom builds (first boot) or after a BSOD.

Open up Device Manager, that will show you what drivers you`re missing.

The most important is the network driver, which you can find at the manufacturers website.

Look over the steps in the link below to Clean Up Factory Bloatware which will also help optimize your system to run best. Steps are similar for XP.

If you have missing drivers in Device manager, find them on the PC model's Support Downloads webpage. I'd not install any of the software however since it is mostly bloat. It shows in the Bloatware tutorial how to turn off any you have on there now in msconfig. You can gradually uninstall what you find you don't need, too.

Are you sure the link in post #1 is correct ?
From what I see in the link it is a very old PC and doesn't have a Network connection.

How were you connected before? By wire or wireless.

Look in Device Manager under Network Adapters to see what is listed.

Plug in by wire, enable http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2803-device-installation-settings.html, then see if a driver auto-loads in the System tray at bottom right of screen.

Are the network adapters showing in error?

This is likely caused by using a driver finder on a driver-complete OS. Drivers not provided in installer are almost all updated by Windows Update. Did you check for what Important and Optional Updates are available. These should all be installed except for Bingware.

Yes this is an old computer just using for downloading so I dont infect my other computers, The computer was second hand and came with win7

I wanted a fresh computer so I installed winxp since then I cant even connect to the internet when I try to follow device installation settings

Do you have the PRoduct Key for Win7 version that came with the PC? It is a 25 digit key that you'll need to reinstall. If you don't have it then you'll need a valid Win7 Product Key. We can provide the installation media.

It explains how to do this correctly in http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 including how drivers are handled. Put your wireless driver in the backup so you can install it to get online, enable auto-updating of hardware, then run all Important and Optional Updates which will deliver most recent drivers.

Open elevated command prompt and type command WMIC BIOS GET SERIALNUMBER
this should give you the service tag of the computer
search on Dell website and see what all drivers are available (Product Selection | Dell US) (Support | Dell US)

Follow the steps in the Clean Reinstall tutorial i linked which explains how drivers are handled.

The installation media is provided for the Win7 version which came with the PC. Can you read the Product Key on COA sticker. You do not need a retail key if Win7 came with the PC since you already own the license which came with the PC to reinstall as often as you want.

Do you understand this now? Ask back if unsure.

You need to Activate windows.
1. Press Start and type "Activate Windows", Press Enter.
2. Type the OEM Code in the sticker provided under your laptop or the battery compartment. and click activate.
3. It just takes seconds to Activate.

Calm down. We've never not been able to resolve these problems.

From exactly where are you getting the Product Key? Is it perfectly readable and are you sure you are inputting it correctly. If this is from the COA sticker on the PC and you're sure you installed the correct version listed then that is the only thing that could be wrong.

What is the exact problem with drivers, other than you are obsessed with them? Have you enabled Hardware Auto-Updating from Reinstall tutorial, then run all rounds of Important a d Optional Windows Updates? Only then should you import any drivers still missing in Device Manager. What are they?

Answer every question if you want further help.

The computer runs xp I have the code for xp on the bottom of the laptop

I installed my own real copy of win7 32bit is this the right one or do I need to install 64bit ? I have input the product key in 3 times all double checked

I have not installed Hardware Auto-Updating I am obsessed with the drivers because I thought you needed them for the computer to rum properly everything on my screen is extra big so could be the wrong install disk

Sorry for being a pest on this but it is doing my tits right in, I appreciate the help yous guys give me it seems to be the best forum for computer problems so thanks in advance and let me know what I am doing wrong much appreciated
