Hi all. New here :). In bios what is Auto. Is it enabled or disabled?. I wanted to no if turbo boost is enabled or disabled in my bios as its set to Auto. If I disable it will it slow the computer down or hurt it while playing games?.

Hello skipper84. Welcome to the forum.

Auto means automatic and is neither enabled or disabled. It means the BIOS software determines when and if the feature is needed and enables it or disables it automatically.

Turbo Boost is an Intel feature, offered on it's newest families of chips. It reportedly increases a system's performance by increasing the core frequency when called for more performance by the OS. Your mileage may vary.

Turbo Boost is always enabled by default.

One thing you might consider doing, set all your cores to turbo up to the same speed.

In the bios, set your Turbo ratio to Manual and make sure Turbo ratio synchronization is enabled.

Then set your turbo to whatever you want, 3.9/4.0/4.2/4.4 etc

Thanks. I ask because in games I am getting stutter. For last 3 month I also been getting blue screen and 116 error codes and random crashes. I use to have MSI 670 GTX. I took my PC in for repair and it turned out to be graphic card so last week I got this 970 gtx. The crashes and blue screen has stopped and works fine. also I was getting app crash on desk top but this also stopped. The only thing is the stutter in games and just wanted to see if it was CPU. Just wanted to no if turning turbo boost off was ok and use the default only speed of 3.5 all the time. But might also try what you say and set all core the same.

When I go to bios my 4 core is set to. 39, 39, 38, 37. by auto.

So just looked in my bios.

So set the cpu clock ratio to 35 which is default. Then enable intel turbo boost technology and set all 4 cores to 35 and save?. Would it also be safe to set cpu ratio to 39 and all cores to 39. But is this what you meant.?

Thanks.

It is doubtful that Turbo Boost is causing the stutter.
Better guesses would be something to do with data transfer: PCI bus, hard drive, SATA bus, RAM.
What tests have you run? Have you ever run Memtest? Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Hi. I have done the advanced memory diagnostic included with windows tool and no problems where found. I have done sfc/scannow in command and no problems. I have even downloaded from intel cpu test and that passed with no errors. Only thing I not done is the memtest86 what you linked. Might give that a try.

Could it be just my TV? Im using a sony bravia KDl-32EX703. I was thinking of buying a 144 hz monitor to see if that solved it. I wanted a new tv/monitor to play on any way so think now is a good time.

Yes, that it was I meant, for example all my cores are set to turbo to 4.2

You definitely do not want to limit a 3770K, not with gaming, No way ;)

Yes it could. You could test on another TV/Monitor to see.
It could also be the HDMI cable or it's connection.

Hi. I think it sorted. I think it was turbo boost what was causing the problem. Since I change turbo boost to all the same the micro stutter has gone. I can still notice it in places but I think that just the game loading and it looks different to the stutter I was getting. Also I noticed in GPU tweak power usage has stabled as that was up and down. I did a few tests with cpu cores from default to my own and when on default the stutter came back. Could have been the other 2 cores what was set different. 39,39,38,37. Could have been the 38,37 core what was making it stutter?.

I will leave this as unsolved till Saturday as will do a proper test and play a game for several hours.
