some of these speeds blow my mind. My brother's can hit almost 20 Mbps, and that seems like it's lightning fast. I couldn't imagine some of these 30-40 Mbps DL speeds...... wow!!!!

If you pay attention, a lot of the really fast download speeds posted here are accompanied by an extremely slow upload speed, which means the ISP has oversold the available bandwidth in the area. Chances are the ISP can't provide all the bandwidth it has sold to it's customers at certain times of the day. Connections like that are all but useless for anything other than basic browsing and downloading one file at a time. At the worst, the connection can become choked.. pages won't load because outgoing packets can't get anywhere, making the download speed irrelevant.
