Hi Stalker, it's capped by the service provider at the moment.

I think they have plans in the next few months to allow users full uncapped speed which I will take up when the do.

Cheers

Paul.

I usually never get so high, but I was so surprised I had to post it here

View attachment 195025

I know my line is 100/10 and it should be normal but still...I've never reached more than 80mbit/s since I had it, this is a record for me :)

That's Awesome, I wonder how fast that is. :)

Yes, Well speed is a good thing, But if gets you nothing when it comes to routing and Pings for online gaming.

Just to get to the net Vigin Media route me through 6 of there hubs before I get to the Net.

Thus causing packet loss and the dreaded High Ping.

I can regularly, but not consistently, get about 20.5 MBPS download on my cable connection. I found out that a friend of mine has FiOS (fiber) and asked him to run speedtest. He also gets about 20.5 MBPS.

Download speed is the most important to me (I hate waiting for web pages, videos and other long downloads). I am not really satisfied with my ISP, but it is $5/month cheaper than FiOS. Is there any advantage to me upgrading? (Note that I'm on a strict budget ATM.) Thanks.

Yep. When I was with AOL... See Problems with Internet Connection - Vista Forums

Note the highlighted rows showing what the download speed could be (4000+ Kb/s), and what it was on a couple of occasions, namely just 2 Kb/s.

Thanks Dwarf, we've run though all the checks many times but unfortunately our speed goes up and down depending on the time of day. When our (very rural) exchange first was upgraded to broadband i think I was one of the 1st in the area online so enjoyed 1.1mbs all the time. Now it's the luck of the draw.
