Which Windows 7 version should be installed?

Hi,
I have a friend that has difficulty in selecting a version.He/She is going to use it for virtual machines in VMware Workstation,writing and editing in Office 2013,creating videos with Movie Maker and experimenting with OS ISOs.He/She has the same computer as me.Which one would you recommend?:huh:

I'd think the best choice would be Ultimate, has all the features Windows offers. The Enterprise version may work but that's for folks that have to have many computers such as businesses.

There`s no reason to get anything other then Home Premium to do that stuff.

It probably will be between $125 and $200 USD IF it can be found, no new production of the discs so will be limited to stock on hand. I'd look at Discount Software - Microsoft Office, Windows, Adobe, and More, DirectDeals.com or Amazon. Might find a copy on eBay but do be careful they are not pirated copies.

Since I know Professional is a version that almost includes everything,how much does Professional cost?
He/She doesn't need BitLocker or AppLocker,just our native language to be installed,if a Greek DVD isn't found.

I found Home Premium in a famous site in our country,for 100 euros.I have an Ultimate x64 DVD with Greek inside.I read some directions on how someone can install all of the versions from the DVD.Shall I create an ISO with ei.cfg deleted,so as to install Home Premium?

This site is something like a mall.It has over 1100 shops online.The cheaper version of Home Premium is 32 bit,but 64 bit with SP1 is 5 euros more!
The key problem will be solved.He/She will buy it online from the slui program.

I checked the price and from this country's shops,the Ultimate edition is nearly 180 euros,while Professional is 40 euros cheaper.Shall he/she install 7 with DAEMON Tools,or wil there be issues?

Why would you use Daemon Tools ?

You just use the dvd.

The Ultimate DVD is the original one,so Ultimate will be installed,whether I want it or not.So,I use ImgBurn to make an ISO of it.Then I will modify the ISO and delete the ei.cfg file,therefore I will have the option to install Home Basic,Home Premium,Professional or Ultimate(it's an x64 version).I will make his/her computer dual boot.That's why I asked you about DAEMON Tools.
I don't want to burn the ISO to a DVD,because his/her computer's drive is broken.

Make sure you buy the correct version or you won't be able to activate legally. This way you don't have to worry about deleting that one file


You can use windows 7 usb/dvd download tools if still available. Just put it on the USB drive.

Can you understand what I want to do? If I delete this file,what does that mean?
Is it illegal if I just install from an ISO without this file? The only thing I want to do for him/her is install 7 from this ISO with Tools and he/she will buy the key from slui.exe. If I wanted,I could download the ISO from Digital River but there is an issue with the language.This computer is UEFI bootable.No matter if I change the language in the first OS in his/her computer,the Windows 7 partition won't have the native language in the Advanced Options.I have tried that and I have a thread with this issue named "Windows Boot Manager language change in UEFI system".I want to say that the Digital River ISO doesn't have our native language and if you want to dual boot(if you downloaded the English version and want to dual boot with 8,for example)the partition with Windows 7 will have the English files on boot.I have tried bcdedit /set {current} locale el-GR and bcdboot /l h:windows.Bcdedit says that Windows 8,Windows 7 and Boot Manager are in Greek.The language in Windows 8 is Greek and the Boot Manager has the Greek language in the select operating system page and Windows 8.1 Advanced Options only.
groze:Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool is still available,but it won't make a UEFI bootable drive.I have a 32 GB drive,but it is used on an Xbox 360.How will I keep the 360 contents,since Rufus(the UEFI bootable creating drive program) will format it?

Yes you can delete the file to make an all versions installer. It wouldn`t be illegal.

No you can`t download an iso file from Digital River anymore, not without a retail key.

No idea what a slui program key would be considered.

You will have to store your Xbox data somewhere else or buy a new 8 GB stick for doing installs ( for Windows 7 you only need a 4 GB stick ) but they are so cheap now
